The Center has facilities and infrastructure to participate in clinical trials. Located in the midst of a major academic medical center and a large regional VA medical center, CORE is in a unique position to recruit patients interested in participating in clinical trials. The clinical trial group of CORE includes our Principal Clinical Trialist, Hack Sul, MD, MPH, Principal Research Coordinator, Jennifer Talley, MPH, and a clinical trial nurse, Mensa Hasanovic, RN. The clinical trial team can conduct studies in both UCLA and the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. The principal goal of the team is to identify and carry out clinical trials that are directly applicable to improving the care of patients, with a special emphasis on studies that measure patient oriented outcomes in addition to traditional "hard" outcome measures.
